Dear iWoman family,

Coming off of an historic week of firsts for so many women in our country, I hope you're feeling what I’m feeling.  Women once again are answering the call!

So much history was made on the political stage this week. Once again, women answered the call and rose to the occasion when the world needed them most.

Across the country, we witnessed groundbreaking victories:

  • Five Black women were newly elected as mayors of major cities.

  • Two women were elected governors in New Jersey and Virginia.

  • In New York City, voters elected the first Muslim and youngest mayor in city history, who immediately announced an all-female transition team.

Do you feel the shift happening? In the middle of global chaos and crisis, women are—yet again—stepping forward to protect our rights, preserve our democracy, and lead us toward hope. It is powerful, it is inspiring, and yes—it’s also a little terrifying. But if history has shown us anything, it’s this: When the world is on fire, women will answer the call.

Last week, I had the honor of hosting the Earl B. Gilliam Bar Foundation Gala in San Diego, California. Civil rights attorney Ben Crump—often referred to as America’s Black Attorney General—delivered a thought-provoking message that echoed through every heart in the room. Just as Judge Earl B. Gilliam fought fearlessly for justice and equality, Crump challenged us to ask ourselves:

What are you willing to do to stand up for what’s right—not what’s easy, not what’s legal,

but what is RIGHT?

He reminded us of the pivotal moments when leaders like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Fannie Lou Hamer, and so many others stood at a crossroads—between silence and courage, safety and sacrifice. They chose truth. They chose justice. They chose to speak for those who could not speak up for themselves.

This week, we applaud the trailblazers who did the same—those breaking barriers, winning elections, and making history. Not everyone is called to lead. Some are called to build, to support, to uplift. But to those who dare to stand up, speak up, and do what’s right—we see you, we celebrate you, and we thank you.

There is hope.

We can win.

But we win together.

Now is the time to put aside our differences, link arms, and move forward as one.

Because when women answer the call—history is made.

Speaking Truth to Power…
