Chaos. Confusion. Fear.

These three words continue to define the first weeks of days of Donald Trump’s second presidency. If you feel like you’re trapped in a political nightmare, you’re not alone. The speed at which democracy, human rights, and global stability are being tested is almost too much to keep up with. And just when we think we’ve seen it all, another shocking announcement shakes the world.

This week, Trump made a declaration so staggering that it sent shockwaves across the globe: the United States will take over the Gaza Strip, permanently claiming it as U.S. territory and transforming it into "the Riviera of the Middle East. The proposal—to forcibly relocate Palestinians who have already endured unimaginable suffering—has drawn outrage, not only for its blatant disregard for international law but for its inhumane treatment of those displaced by war.

And that wasn’t all. A week prior, Trump renamed the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America” and hinted that the U.S. should take over Canada and Greenland. Yes, you read that correctly. He is openly suggesting territorial expansion, as if entire nations and their people are simply assets to be bought, sold, or claimed by force.

While this may sound like the plot of a dystopian novel, it’s happening in real time. And the implications are chilling. Trump’s rhetoric and actions over the past few weeks make one thing clear: his ambitions go far beyond reversing policies of past administrations—he is fundamentally reshaping the United States' role in the world, with no regard for legal, ethical, or humanitarian consequences.

Meanwhile, women’s rights and freedoms continue to be stripped away at an alarming rate. In just three weeks, we have seen:

  • A full-scale attack on DEI programs—dismantling decades of progress on workplace equity and inclusion.

  • New restrictions on women’s healthcare—rolling back essential protections for reproductive rights.

  • Bans on transgender women in sports—erasing protections for the LGBTQ+ community.

  • Threats to workplace security—making it harder for women and marginalized groups to succeed.

As if that weren’t enough, Trump has placed Elon Musk in an undefined government role under the pretense of improving “government efficiency.” What does this mean for national security, data privacy, and democracy itself when an unelected billionaire with unchecked power is suddenly shaping policy? What about the legal and ethical ramifications of such actions? The question is not whether it’s legal, but who is going to stop him.

Trump’s long history of attacking women, people of color, immigrants, and his political opponents left us with no illusions about what his second term would look like. But if you’re wondering what comes next, now is the time to revisit Project 2025—the extreme right-wing playbook that he once distanced himself from but is now executing with alarming precision.

A Reminder to Take Care of Yourself

If you are feeling stressed, anxious, or afraid, let me remind you: you have the power to tune out the news and stay focused on what truly matters. The important things in life—your family, your friends, your community—are still here. They are your anchor. Love is stronger than hate, and hope is more powerful than fear.

Take time to rest. Take time to breathe. Take time to hold the people you love a little closer. Do what you can to support and uplift one another, because as women, we owe it to each other to stand strong.

We are so much stronger together, and when things seems difficult, remember the bible verse: "This too shall pass." It always does.

In peace, love and solidarity,
